Chicago’s Downtown, the 7th annual Latino Fashion Week was bigger and better than ever!
Latino fashion designers from local right to international from 13
countries and see what they got to show off their latest collection, from first
to fifth of October.
Now in its seventh year, the fashion week created by two entrepreneurs –
Arabel Alva Rosales of Mexican descent and Cesar Colon Jr. of Puerto Rican descent – that also
acts as a premier resource for us to get acquainted with Latino fashion
comes with the theme The Journey as a timeless appreciation of the
accomplishments since the beginning.
The five-day event will include runway fashion shows, celebs special
appearances such as as Bianca Andulaz and Daniela Guzman, fashion
markets, and more, just concluded in Chicago, with red carpet event fashion
show and reception on October 9th.
More than 20, 000 people attended the five-day event to see latest pieces
such as Andrea Barrero, the Chicago-based Colombian fashion creator,
designed a timeless elegant vintage-inspired collection, featuring classic
hand-sewn dress, inspired from artistic designs from Valentino.
Native from Puerto Rico, Giovannie Kelvin showcases various formalwear
getups at the event, created with professional women in mind. Made from
luxury fabric such as silk satin and French lace, the collection shows us
women of empowerment that deserves only the best in their everyday outfit.
His work showcase on the second day of the event, in celebration of beauty
and sophistication from women in their thirties, along with spotlight on
Thalia’s new collection, hosted by Project Runway star Nick Verreos.
Day three of the week was memorable as it focuses on collection for curvy girls (one
of the traits sexy Latinos is famous for!) with pieces from Colombian designer
Anastasia Casas and models Lornalitz Baez and Rosie Mercado from the hit series
“Curvy Girls” on NUVOtv. A runways show is also staged from graduating students
of International Academy of Design and Technology.
George Pajon Jr. of the Black Eyed Peas and Diego Martin Val of The Voice made
appearances on day four of the event alongside with celebrity designs from Robert
Rodriguez, Adriana Echeverria from Bolivia and Mexican designer Rosario Maria
Mendez.
Last but not least, Mexican-based designer Carolina Vásquez also takes part
on the last day of the event by with her pieces targeting youngsters Ragazza
that include few pieces of feminine dresses for Quinceañera ceremony (a
ceremony celebrating the transition of the female from childhood to
womanhood). This coincides with fashion trend in promoting healthy lifestyle
and better self-esteem for teens.
In short, Latino fashion week is truly the event that embraces Latino culture,
fashion, and beauty and taking them to high fashion sense.
