With Chicago Fashion Week this October, returning for the eighth season, it gets
better with budding designer showcases their latest fall collection. The event is
presented by the Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events (DCASE) and
programmed with the assistance of the Mayor’s Fashion Council.
Fashion site StyleChicago presented The Art of Fashion 2013 with designers
including SHALINI, Lara Miller, Shernett Swaby, Eva Pazola, and Barbara Bates.
Chicago has some best fashion trends in the world and becoming to
a major fashion hub: home to more than 400 local designers and 300 independent
boutiques spread across the city. Chicago also has some of the best fashion and art
schools to nurture budding talent for the world.
The event is a week-long (from Oct.15 and conclude on Oct. 20) , featuring runway
show in Millennium Park with fashion shows through the city so you should head on
to get some ideas for future fashion style for your wardrobe. Runway shows feature
a couple of fashion shows including Fashion Focus: Taking it to the Streets –
showcasing designers around the world and Fashion Focus: Urban Shapeshifters –
catering for menswear.
In showcasing budding talents in fashion, CCFW Inc. offers two programs: Chicago
Couture Fashion Week Exhibition Program and CCFW Inc.’s Youth Apprentice
Program. The first program presents haute couture designers, artists, retail
entrepreneurs, and entertainers to trade in the niche market.
The opening event is hosted by City of Chicago and Michigan Avenue Magazine and
teaming up celebs from the creative industry with fashion designer to be his/her
‘muse’, staged for later evening. Pairings will include: Maria Pinto partnered with
Jeanne Gang (from architecture), Azeeza Khan and Alpana Singh (culinary), and also
Shernett Swaby with Mindy Segal (culinary).
On 20th is the finale of the fashion week with Northern Grade showcase items for
hunks including clothing, gear, footwear, and grooming supplies while
FashionChicago® hosting a designer shopping event with more than thirty of
Chicago’s best apparel, accessory, and jewelry worth to look for. Notable names
include Tongue Tied, Brynn Capella, Calvin Tran, House of Gemmes, and Michelle
Tan.
